Norman R. Quillen, Jr.

0f New Castle, DE, departed this life at the age of 73 on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Veterans Medical Center, Elsmere, DE.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Norman R. and Miriam (Parcell) Quillen Sr. Mr. Quillen served his country faithfully in the US Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Quillen had been employed at the DuPont Edge Moor plant as a millwright, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He held memberships with the Defiance Athletic League, Defiance Minstrels, American Legion Post 30, Wilmington Manor, VFW Colonial Post 838. He was a lifetime member of the Police and Fire, Rod Gun Club, St. Gabrielle¯s and St. Anthony¯s Clubs.

Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Esther M. (Davis) Quillen in 1999; daughter, Maryalice ¯Peachy¯ Klingler; and 2 sisters, Ruth Coleman and Anna Bowyer. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Norman R. Quillen, III of New Castle; daughters,
Marie A. Hannah and her husband, Bill, Denise R. Quillen and her fianc¯, John Rodowicz; grandchildren, Stacy Spence and her husband, Dave, Jamie Adams, Brian Klingler, Christine Subda and her husband, Chuck, Michael P. Quillen and his companion, Katie Smoot, Amanda Quillen, Jessica Benos and her husband, Dimitri; great-grandchildren, Brian C. Klingler, Jr., Sarah E. Spence, Cheyanne Quillen, Brendon Quillen; niece, Shari Coleman; and nephew, Bill Coleman and his fianc¯e, Donna Cross.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11:00 am at Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church, 801 DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware St., New Castle (302 328-2312). Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810; or the Veteran¯s Nursing Home, 1601 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19804.
